Sunshine Children’s Church (SCC)

How we started:

I started serving the children since year 1979, doing it just because there was shortage of man power. I didn’t really love the children; in fact I was fearful of those naughty ones. I still remember praying in tears that they will not come to Sunday school any more. In 1985, during a prespetry, Doug Duncan prophesied over me about seeing me opening my heart and my home for them. The real interest came when I started having my own children and I started desiring wanting to do more in this ministry for the Lord. The Lord told me to feed His lamb (John 21:15); I don’t understand why suddenly I was so full of enthusiasm, and I started organizing things like children’s camp; but in the midst of busyness, I was interrupted by some unforeseen happenings and I stopped ministering for a while. In 1997, the Lord started prompting me to start a community Children ministry, but when I bring the idea to my husband who was the main pastor at that time, he was not keen at the idea at all. I knew in my heart it was God’s calling so I press on in intercession. In mid 97 when we were in Portland USA, the Lord further strengthen me with the assurance that He’ll do it with me and He’ll provide me with help. The Lord started to work in my husband’s heart especially after he attended the conference in Singapore by EdS., the Lord spoke to him through (Luke). My husband came back a changed man, confessing to me and also the whole church about the wrong conception he had toward children, and he now give his full support to the idea of starting the community children’s ministry. In mid 98, our neighboring church organized a coloring contest among the neighborhood children. At that time they were doing a good job among the children. I went to help out and also learn from them the way they do things. On Christmas that year, we customize the whole idea of the coloring contest and had our first Community Children Project in our church. We had 102 children at that time. Since then Little Kingdom was birth and we have over a thousand children who had visited our Children’s Church.

In the subsequence years, the Lord change our ministry name to Sunshine Children’s Church – meaning the Son of God is shining on His children. Over the years the Lord has brought to us many great people who are willing to work along side with me. Many challenges we had faced but the Lord has kept His promise to help us conquer them all, because of His grace we were able to be who we are today. At the moment we have about 20 children ministers and we are enjoying ourselves and very blest because we believe that we are impacting lives as we get in touch with the children.

What We Do and Who We Reach Out to:

In SCC, we provide lots of fun, food and rewards to children who come to us. We sing, we play, we preach, and we emphasize a lot on Scriptures memory. We reach out to the community children who are from Shah Alam and also Klang. Some of them are from churches near by; we don’t reject them because they help us bring in children from their neighborhood. The children are comfortable with us because in SCC we emphasize on positive reinforcement, we believe that the church should be a place where they can find love, comfort, prayers support, warm and even friendship. They trust us: we often receive prayer requests from them and also their parents about theirs or the family needs.

Our Vision and Mission:

In Proverbs 22:6 says, “Train a child in the way he should go and when he’s old he will not depart from it.”
I strongly believe that if we can transform the children with the Word of God today, when they grow up, the Spirit of God will prompt them in their times of need with His Word and will bring them back to His Own. And through the children, their families will be brought to Christ as well. So, reaching out to children is surely a way to bring church growth. As Christ said in Matthew 28:18-20, “…therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Lord, teaching them to obey everything I’ve commanded you, and surely I’ll be with you till the end of the age.” It’s our desires in SCC that we disciple the children, empower them with God’s Word and also inspire them to serve.
